Moroccan Man on Facebook..?
I was on Facebook and received a very random friend request from a boy/man from morocco.
I accepted and messaged him saying, "I'm sorry, but do I know you?"

He said:
"i'm sorry for the derangement , but i just like your profiles picture and i wanted to know who's this beautiful person , that bothered you ? ( i'm not verry strong en english ..)"

We had a somewhat long conversation just about general things, he is very sweet. But should I be concerned about anything? He has many moroccan friends/family on Facebook, which makes me believe he is real..but he is on the other side of the globe. This could be a huge scam. He is very attractive, and out of millions of people in the world, he found a girl in m i n n e s o t a attractive and decided to add her on Facebook? It just doesn't make sense.

I think this is fine. I am Canadian and I think that here in North America we have a tendency to be unfriendly to strangers. He probably just comes from a different culture where this kind of behaviour is more socially acceptable.

Tues The same thing happened to me on Sunday. Did he ask you to Skype or Video Facebook Chat?

Wed I unfriended my moroccan boy/man and he is still in box messaging me. I have researched and this is quite common latley with young moroccan men contacting older women in the US, Canada and the UK. I checked out his friends on facebook and he had many women in the US in their 60's and 70's, how normal is this? It is not...I blocked him. He is 29 and I am 57.

You said this doesn't make sense, well it dosen't, use your gut. Why would a young man want a woman 30, 40, 50 years older...a green card, money and gifts. Block him.

I had a similar message last week saying he liked my profile and wanted to get to know me. The problem is, my profile is private so he can't look at my profile as he's not a friend - so how can he like my profile?
Delete it
You have to wonder how these creeps are able to contact you anyway if you don't have any friends in common
You NEVER write back to random people who contact you online for any reason

Hi, I'm Moroccan and generally when you receive this kind of friend request from a Moroccan, it's just a way for him to get some new friends around the world and chat and like someone said above, it's more acceptable here in Morocco to initiate strangers, for example we greet strangers in the street without even knowing them, Islam encourages this kind of behaviour. so why would someone who greet strangers in the street without knowing them not add a stranger on the other side of the world ? hope you get my point ! Smile

Regarding this person well, Moroccans are just like any people in the world, you will find good ones on the net as well as bad ones. as time goes on, you would definitely tell if this guy is serious or not depending on how you consider him (a friend, potential lover...)

It is true that some Moroccan add western girls/womens to get use of them (cam nudity requests, profit mariage...) in this case I wouldn't recommend this relationship.

It's funny to see those French words in his message "derangement" which means disturbing, French is the second language here after Arabic, so don't mind the funny spelling and words mistakes when you talk to a Moroccan haha

Hope my opinion as a native helped you Smile
