Why are democrats and their media so forgiving of racists like Senator Robert Byrd?
-Dem. Senator Robert Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore Bilbo: "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a ***** by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." He served in the Senate until 2010.
-Byrd created a new chapter of the KKK and rose to prominence as the "Grand Dragon" of the entire Mid-Atlantic states. (6/19/05 Washington Post) -Byrd filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act that outlawed major forms of discrimination against African Americans and women, including racial segregation. -Byrd used the “N†word: On CNN, 3/4/01, “West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd apologized Sunday for a slur he used during a discussion of race relations in a nationally broadcast interview.†(You can see him say it by google searching “Byrd says the N wordâ€). He was the top democrat in the Senate at the time. -Byrd died in-office less than two years ago. He was the longest-serving senator in history, from 1959 to 2010. Democrats chose him as Senate Majority Leader many times. The Democrat Party loved him even though he was a vile racist: “Vice President Biden said today that with the passing of Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) the Senate lost a legend and he lost a dear friend and mentor.†6/28/10 ABC News. But if we oppose illegal immigration, we're racists. But if we support voter registration photo identification, we're racists. But if we want equal rights for all citizens and oppose quotas based on skin color, we're racists. But if we don't like Obama's social welfare state policies, we're racists. Ads |

because Byrd quit the Klan in 1950, apologized, eventually turned his back on racism and conservativism, and became a Liberal.

You're citing "liberal" media outlets to claim that the media didn't report on Byrd's comments?!? Clearly they did, as you cited.

So because Byrd was a racist, you think you should have a right to be a racist, too.

Byrd is/was a member of a protected class - a democratic politician. The press gives such individual a free pass on their past conduct and activities.

Because like most Dixiecrats, he never joined the Republican Party.
After the Dixiecrat Party failed, most of its members slunk back the DemoKKKratiKKK Party. And the good old DemoKKKrat boys welcomed them back with open arms. BTW, Byrd fillibustered EVERY civil rights act up to 1969. All these claims that he abandoned racism are just more DemoKKKrat lies to protect their own and hide the truth. And yes, he died in 2010 without EVER joining the Republican Party. That's why we can say he was a DemoKKKrat FOR LIFE. |
