Mobile icon indicates that the other person whose the mobile icon is showing has activated SMS on his mobile so someone sends them message and if he or her is not online the message goes to their cellphone as SMS or if that person is using an Android device and Facebook is minimized it will show the mobile icon.

If you open Facebook in any mobile, it will show mobile icon. It is automatically show by Facebook, you don't need to do anything
