How to remove someone from the top of you chat list on Facebook on iPhone?

So I dumped my boyfriend for emotionally abusing me, and his name is still in the top of my chat list on Facebook on my phone. I've sent him more messages than anyone else, so it's not leaving anytime soon. Anyways, I was wondering how I could remove it from that list without deleting him, blocking or deleting the conversation. Every time I click on chat and see his name there, it really upsets me, but at the same time I want to keep the conversations just as a reminder of what has happened. I don't want him completely removed from chat, just not at the top of my list anymore.

You have to unfriend or block him, there is no other way to remove him from your top of the chat
