What are the advanages of Facebook communication?

Need help in IT, question doesnt seem to be anywhere.
Need help on advantages of:
Having Facebook Message
Having Facebook Status's
Having Facebook notifications

Also need disadvantages if there is any

Message is useful because if you aren't friend (on facebook) you can alike send a message to a person.
With facebook's status you can write what you think and it will appear to your friends and if they are interested on it they will like it and/or they will comment your status.
Notifications are meant to inform you that there is something (like a friend that tag you) you should know.
The disadvantages are that if you don't want to receive a message from anyone you can't and that facebook's status can be seen by everyone if you don't set correctly the privacy
