Are people really that fake on facebook?why would you deny a friend request?
So I just started using facebook and I tried to add some people that I thought where cool with me and what usually happens is I see their page and it still gives me the "send friend request option"which means they likely denied the first one is that correct?Or sometimes it will just sit there for days and days and eventually be dropped too and its happening in people that I would have never expected like these three guys I used to work with just last year who always asked me to help them with their computer issues(I'm a computer nerd)all the time at work. And they would say things like "dan is the greatest thing to have happened to this project he always helps us he's a good guy"and said we needed to hang out, well now that I tried to add them the same thing happened with all 3 and one even had 2,132 friends I mean I can't even begin to understand why he minds me being his 2,133 I mean personally I would even add people I thought where ok at a social gathering if they sent me a request but I would have to really dislike someone to deny them .In all these I've had some mutual friends do some people have it so you have to have a certain amount to add them and the requests are dropping off?I want to know the reasons why or if there's a glitch You don't need to spare my feelings although I feel really down and used by alot of people but I just want the truth or why would you deny someone? Why would you mind someone being your 2033 friend?
The reason it bothers me so much is some of them have like 1000 to 200 friends Im pretty sure they are not self conscious with this large of an audience. And I drove them around and I was cool enough when their computers where broken, they just used me if they where able to press the approval button 200 times but click the deny button with me.I know I shouldnt take it personally but it feel let down and manipulated in all honesty.
But thanks for all the answers everyone.

Lots of people have facebook but don't really use it, might not see your request at all. Some people will only accept requests from actual friends. And it can be awkward to be facebook friends with someone you used to work with. Some people won't "friend" co workers. And it's also possible that they either don't remember you or didn't like you enough to want to keep in touch. If its happened with several people - did you set up your profile in a way that makes it clear who you are? Used your real name and a good picture?

Some reasons I don't add people or may delete them

1) Don't want to give them access to my personal information
2) Don't want to be embarrassed by some of the crap I put up. For example I wouldn't want my mum or dad to see some of the photos or statuses
3) Often playing facebook games requires friends to play with you so I would mass add people (mostly people I don't know) so that it could help me with the game. Then later on I might mass delete people
4) I might like talking to some people or socialising face to face but more often than not I absolutely hate talking to people via facebook so I might delete them. Especially if their annoying me by messaging me every now and then. For example my best friend from grade 3 would add me and talk to me. Yes he was my best friend but it is now 13 years later and I have moved on. I am not interested in hours of chatting unless he was talking to me face to face. Just the kind of person I am.
5) Some people post some really stupid/offensive stuff on their facebook so I tend to delete those people

There are bound to be more reasons but more often than not it has nothing to do with the individual that I am deleting. More so just for me so my advice is to never take things personally. It is only a crappy website afterall and you should best spend your time talking to people face to face.
