How does social security calculate a fair market value of a room for rent in california?
I'm paying $500 for my room, -utilities not included in Chino Hills, California and
wanted to know if I am paying fair market value.

Social Security does not pay rent and has nothing to do with deciding how much rent is fair. Your landlord makes that decision according to prevailing market rates in your area. I dont even know where your town is. I am in northern cal. so I have no idea what kind of area it is.
