our account has been hacked and we have lost all inbox emails from the last month and sent from last November?
our account sent a message saying that we were stranded in Cyprus and needed money to get back. It was actually signed off from me and another person who signs emails from our account. Is there any way we can get our lost emails back or back them up in future for safe keeping??

If emails are missing from your inbox, or messages are missing from your IM conversation history, the first step is to ensure that the messages haven't unexpectedly moved to a different folder. To rule this out, please do the following:
1.Check any folders that you have set up. In some cases, email is unintentionally moved to a folder. This sometimes happens in the newest version of Yahoo! Mail, where the number keys are shortcuts to custom folders within your account. Also make sure you are looking at all the folders I have windows 7, and on my inbox page, on the left, in the folders section, next to where it says Folders there is a small triangle on the left. Click on that and all your folders should show.

2. Check your email filters. You'll want to ensure that a filter isn't directing certain emails to an unexpected place. To view your filters, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the page, and select Mail Options from the menu that appears (in Mail Classic, this is Options | Mail Options). Then select Filters from the options on the left.

3. Try using the search feature, located at the top of mail page, If you know the name of the sender or recipient or a word from the subject line of a missing email, try running it through Mail Search to see if it's hiding within the account.

Change your password ASAP if you have not already done so then
Fill out a Mail Restore form ASAP http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/cl...store.html you only have 48 hours to restore lost mail before they are permanently deleted from Yahoo's server
Fill out a Contacts Restore http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/contact...store.html

Also do all of the following to protect your privacy and identity
- From your Inbox click on the Gear icon in the upper right (next to where it says Hi, Yourname) then > Mail Options > POP & Forwarding to make sure your emails are not all being forwarded to the hacker’s address. Normally the hackers will have your Incoming mail forwarded to them
- make sure the alternate email address is still yours and you have a security question and answer set
- until you get your Contacts back find some other way to reach them - Facebook, twitter, text, phone, ask friends to help, etc -- to inform them that your account was hacked. This happened to a friend and 3 of her contacts ended up sending money before she could inform them she was hacked
- if you used your same email username and password for ANY other site, you need to immediately change the passwords on ALL of those accounts. Unfortunately 80% of people use the same username and password for everything. Hackers know this and once they know your email login they'll try those same details on Facebook, Paypal, Twitter, Linkedin, Amazon, EBay, every major bank and credit card company, etc to try and hack those accounts as well
- if your emails contained ANY financial information (Paypal receipts, online banking statement, credit card bills, etc) you need to IMMEDIATELY inform these institutions. You will have to freeze your bank and credit card accounts and get new account numbers and cards sent to you. Set up a new email address to change your Paypal account. These hackers will go through all of your emails to see if there is anything they can use to steal your money and identity
- also consider filing a fraud alert with the credit bureaus -- read the FTC website http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/id...mised.html

You didn't get an email recently that looked like it was from Yahoo asking you to verify or update your account, or that your account had exceeded its limits, or that there was suspcious activity did you? That was not from Yahoo, that was a phishing scam
