Help I have a facebook problem?!?

Okay, so I think I'm like following all my friends on Facebook!? So I went on one of my friend's profile and hovered my mouse over the friends bar (the one with the check mark right next to it) & the drop menu had a check mark next to following.. even though I never wanted to or did follow her. So I went to other people's profiles and saw the same thing, so is that just suppose to happen or am I following all my friends?! please help i'm kind of embarrassed about this. Thank you.

well this is automatic but not with everyones profile
it mostly happens when you send req. to someone .
when u send req. u automaticaly start following tat person.as i said this dosent happen everytym or with every person u req. to b frnds
this hppened with me too but i followed only those whom i reqstd to b frnds.
so i jst stop following them manualy.
