If you want to gain more follower then search on facebook with the name "Add Me" , "Accept My request" and other name which you think you may find the group.
Join the group and post the status that you want friend request. they will send you request and all you have to do is accept the request. Make sure your daily friend increase limits below the 50, otherwise the facebook may block your account. Do not attempt any third party website other then http://www.facebook.com.

You may join big groups then participate in commenting and posting. The send friend request to them. They may accept your friend request.
You may also create page and change the setting so that you will be liking and posting as your profile name instead of page name. After writing good post you can get followers too.
