Adding people on Facebook question?

So today I added two people in my school who I know are cool with me. However, since I didn't get a notification saying they accepted it, I wandered back onto their Facebook and saw that the "Add Friend" button was unclicked for both. Thinking this was an error, I added them again, but then in an hour, the same problem showed up!
I'm really confused on whether or not they clicked the decline button. I'm also a bit unsure on whether or not they were even online to decline me since the last post they made was around a few weeks ago.
I am 99% sure they don't dislike me, so to simply ask:
Is this a Facebook error or are they declining me on purpose?

I plan to try adding them when they are sleep since I usually sleep pretty late. Then check whether or not it comes up as unclicked again or not.
I don't wanna be seen as like a creep if I keep trying to add them again and them declining me, lol.

They DID refuse your invite.

It can be for any of the following reason:
- They did not notice it was you. Make sure they can recognize you from profile pic.
- They dont want to add random people to their FB. Some people like to keep the friend list tidy and short.
- They Missclick it.


I suggest you dont insist in adding them, you will look like a wierdo or a stalker. Instead, consider talking about that face to face. "Do you have facebook? Do you mind if i add you?" and check his reaction.
