why do i have to reload facebook to see if ive recieved any messages?

this has been happening for about an hour and at this point its gotten rather tedious, i would really like to know how to fix this, im using chrome so im not sure if that has any affect on this matter or not

What do you mean by "reload"? refresh?

If you get message, it should automatically put number in the top message icon and on the right of Message under FAVOURITES in your homepage, unless the message is in Other folder of Message.

If you don't get it automatically, maybe your internet connection problem or anything else that you can't do anything to fix it except just Refresh.
