Any suggestions on how to stop the computer from freezing while scrolling on Facebook?
Computer stops responding about 1/4 down while scrolling. No major problems on other web pages.

There are different reasons why your computer can freeze up while scrolling ANYthing.

1) How old is your computer? Older computers (10 yrs old) might not have the chip size or strength to handle facebook pages. Are all your programs updated or upgraded correctly? Adobe Flash is one that's pretty important to see movies and stuff online now. Make sure you've got the latest version, and the latest updates. Same thing with windows, make sure all your updates are received.

2) Sometimes a virus or too many cookies can weight a laptop's performance down. A virus can even stop a program from running correctly. Here's some suggestions of FREE programs to help clean up your computer, all available at MajorGeeks.com

a) SuperAntiSpyware, it's extremely effective anti spyware. Finds many bad things, and cleans cookies, too.
b) JetClean A good all purpose one-button fixer-upper. Cleans registery, temp files, and other things that can slow a computer down.
c) Wise Disk Cleaner helps get rid of unnecessary files that can clog up a hard drive's performance.
d) Wise Registry Cleaner scans very effectively, and also has extra features.
e) Auslogic Disk Defrag. I always set it to defrag and optimize, so that it will set the more importantly used files near the "front" of the hard drive, so it won't have to search hard for it next time.

The JetClean is a good alll-purpose cleaner, it also recleans Ram. You don't have to get the Wise Disk or Reg Cleaners programs, but those two have timers included in the FREE version, so you can set them to clean at any time your computer is on, assuming it's on all the tiime.
These programs I have found with over 20 years experience to be some of the best and FREE programs to help keep your computer tuned up.

3) Ram is sometimes not large enough. Nowadays Ram is measured in Gigabites, and the more you have, the better. Ram is used to put temp files into, so it can be accessed easily by computer, without having to get into the hard drive.. Even tho' it seems picky, accessing the hard drive is way harder for the computer than accessing Ram memory. So it would be good to get as much as you can.j If you don't know how do change it out, find a friend or local computer shop who does. Ram is pretty inexpensive nowadays. I'd try to avoid the big box stores, tho'.

4) Sometimes your internet connection isn't strong enough to handle the download speeds needed for viewing videos online. Make sure you're getting the best signal strength.

Sometimes, if you've got a lot older computer, it's just better to get a new one. You might try the new Google Chrome laptop at Walmart or Staples. It's just $200 at walmart. doesn't use Windows to run, so it's much easier and quicker to use. It's extra lightweight, too.
But if yours is a desktop, it's easier to swap out parts to make yours more modern.

Good luck.
