What has happened to my Facebook chat?

I had accepted and sent requests to a few new friends. Once they accepted or I accepted they appeared as first on my Facebook chat. Now they have dropped to the bottom of the chat option. The people online are set to the top of the list and the others onward. When the newly accepted friends are online, they don't move up the list but stay stuck on the bottom. Just wondering what is happening... Why is the newly accepted friends on the bottom of the list if they are online and the rest of the online friends are at the top of the list.

Top list of your online friends are the persons you talk a lot in facebook, even if you don't they still appear on the top list if you view their timeline,photos and etc a lot of times. And the rest in the buttom list are just your ordinary friends online.
