Can a school use facebook info against you?
My fiancee works in a school as a science technician and the school headmistress has decided that anybody who posts anything that can be taken as a negative comment about race, religion etc on their facebook account. Is this legal or can something be done about it? If possible can any answers have links to legal documents relevant to this question please.
Thank you
(The school is a mixed school but has a high Muslim pupil attendance)

Yes, they are allowed to do so.

A school is an institution. They can create their rules for as long as it abides with your country law.

Perfectly legal. Its also fairly standard part of background checks when you're applying for a job.

I'd advise you post carefully, and remember that nothing you post online is ever truly "deleted". It may be funny now, but one day it may come back to bite you.

It's perfectly legal - Facebook is a public forum. This is a very good example of why you should be extremely careful what you post on Facebook or any other such sites.

The same laws apply on Facebook as anywhere else. Many employers impose restrictions on what an employee can say regarding their work if such comments are liable to cause the problems, either legally or just generally within their community, for the employer.

That you describe the school as "mixed" and single out one group that follow some religious belief would be considered a problem.
