Why do I gain followers but no notes on Tumblr?

I have this situations which have been bothering me for a while I run a blog on Tumblr I have been getting followers but no notes at all. I'm a photography so I only post my work.

Aha, well, isn't this a good thing? Or at least, better than no followers? -I kid, I agree, that's always strange!
Based on my experience, not that I mean to be negative, they could be those attention-followers. What I mean is, in order for them to get attention on their blogs, they randomly look up and follow as many random blogs as possible to get said attention. This happened to my friend who recently made a Tumblr, and was an artist blogger but didn't reblog anything, only her own work. She started getting random followers who had total different interest than hers, some of them downright ridiculous.

It's annoying, I wish people didn't do it, but they do, and if you really don't reblog anything or have any notes, this might be the case. That's worse case scenario though. Who knows, maybe they are just shy fans who are newbs when it comes to liking and reblogging your work !
