Is it illegal to change name on drivers license to change name on facebook?
So I want to change my name on facebook because I feel as though this new name will fit me better. In order to do this, facebook makes you show a pic of a valid id with your name on it because they don't want people making stupid names. On a scale of illegal to not illegal, is it illegal to take a photo of your license, photoshop a new name in it, and upload it to show your fake name?

If it is illegal (I'm not sure), it's not the kind of thing you would likely get in trouble for. Kind of like jaywalking, etc.

Seeing as your state drivers license is also considered your federal ID, then I'd have to guess that it would be very illegal to fraudulently use your drivers license, or a copy of your altered drivers license for anything requiring a legitimate drivers license for identification. You may be able to change the name, but the number remains the same and wouldn't match the name.

Yes it's a felony that can land you in prison for 5-10 years
Facebook will check the name against the DMV records to see that the name and license number don't match up and they will call the police Why not just legally change your name if it's such a big deal? |
