Translating facebook post?

When I am chatting to one of my foreign friends translating is straight forward. I press on the message that I want to copy -transferring me to a separate page headed DETAILS - this allows for me to press and hold for the copy option to appear above - from which I select copy and can paste into my i transalation app ! Simple !
However whenever a foreign friend of mine posts a status on news feed I cannot seem to copy it like above or in any other way,form or method I have attempted. I am either being really thick and missing something simple or there is a flaw in the design. Who knows the answer. The first correct answer 10 pts given no question !!!!

Try using Google Translate.

Even though it's not fully reliable, it will give you a general idea of what your friend is saying.
