you dont - changes like that show up on your friends' news feeds, not on your timeline

if you want it to be on your timeline, then create a new status update that says something like "hey, i changed my profile picture"

It should automatically show up that you changed your profile picture...on your Timeline, it says "_____ changed his/her profile picture".

Of course, for friends to see this change, set the profile picture privacy settings to anything but "private"
