Should i add my friend on facebook?

A long time ago, my guy friend told me he doesn't have a facebook, and i searched him up and he does have a facebook. And i was wondering if i should add him as my friend considering he is my friend at school but i am a little concerned he might deny my friend request so should i add him or wait till he adds me?
I am a little shy so i don't know if i should add him on facebook, and he told me ONE year ago he doesn't have a facebook, but now he actually does.

Maybe you send him message first and say something like "hey, eventually now you have a facebook, blah-blah" and see his reaction? But don't count on it for his reaction since you're not his FB friend, so your pm ends up in his Other folder that he might overlook. Hmm, so if you like, why not add him as your friend? Nothing wrong with that unless you've past bad/embarassing 'story' with him.

I think you have to think why did he lie on you ? I think the answer is because he does not want you to send him a friend request so, if I were you I would not send a friend request to a person who does not want me to do.
