Is there an option on facebook that only lets certain people view your status?

Yes you can select who sees your page, by adjusting your settings

If you press the button at the bottom right of the status typing box, it'll show an icon of the earth, people or whatever your preference is set at. Set it to 'custom' and it'll ask who you dont want to see, or you could make a private group, or send it in a chat?

To the left of the post button you will see a drop down list with a gear on it.Click it then it will show 4 options public, friends,only me, and custom. Click custom then select the option "specific people or lists".
