When someone dies, what happens to their facebook page?
Is there any kind of tradition? Does facebook delete the account or do they leave it open?

I think, perhaps, a family member or friend would be kind enough to request a takedown of the deceased person's content.

Nothing really, maybe a family member will report the situation to facebook or find out what the password is and delete their account

I have a friend who committed suicide. His page is still up and sometimes people posts prayers or nice things to him. Facebook will not close the account of someone deceased. It will always stay open. The only way it can be closed is if someone knows his password and goes into the account to delete. Otherwise it will be open as long as Facebook is still running.
