when pages are reccomended to you on facebook, is there a way to find out who reccomended these pages?
Do they come from friends? How do we know which friends recommended them?

If you're talking about on the sidebar, then there's no one who recommended those pages to you. Facebook keeps track of your activity and collects data. Using that data, it shows you pages it thinks you'd like.
