Regarding Twitter, what is the difference between @ and #?

When you want to put a hashtag use, #. When you want to send a person a message then use @ and their twitter name. "People use the hashtag symbol # before a relevant keyword or phrase (no spaces) in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter Search". < I got this right from Twitter's help center.

Hashtag is for trends, and @ is to send tweets to individuals although anyone following you will see what you've written too, unless you send a direct message

@ is mention of other twitter user. If you reply to someone and want to direct your tweet to someone, use @username in your tweet.

# is hashtag. It helps to group different tweets by topics. This is like search keyword.
