Will my Facebook account be ok..my yahoo email is working fine?

I got this on my Facebook homepage a few days ago. It read:
"Our systems have detected that "xxxx.com is no longer a valid email address. We require all users to maintain an active email address. "
My email account has always worked fine. This just happened out of the blue.
So I changed my Facebook password and the password to my email account. Then the message on my Facebook account was gone then.
Has anyone else gotten this before? Is it a genuine message from Facebook or a scam (phishing) attempt on my account? Genuine answers only please. Thanks.

Seems like a scam, have to look at the screen shot, unfortunately not available in Y!A.

You have to look, really look the URL mentioned there.

Anyhow, if you need to type your email for FB and/or your password, don't ever do it on other than you yourself type the URL, https://m.facebook.com (mobile site).
