Is there a way to only see one person's up to date newsfeed on facebook?

you mean the ticker bar? (that's not their news feed)

and no, there is no way to do that

however, you can create custom lists of people and then use those lists kinda the same way

the difference between that and viewing their timeline is that you will only see the things they post themselves and not the things their friends post on their timeline

but it wont show you all of their likes and comments like you probably want to do

there is one way to do it - delete all of your other friends... then only that persons things will appear in the ticker... but that probably isnt quite what you want to do either
