Instagram question about who can see my pictures?

I post to Instagram about everyday or so and some are private things that I would only like my close family and friend seeing. My real dad and I aren't very close and he doesn't know a lot of things. Just last night he started following me on Instagram. I thought that he couldn't follow me without permission becuase I have it set so my photos are private. I blocked him knowing he might be able to see my pictures.

1. Can he still see my pictures if he is blocked?
2. Can you set it so people have to get your permission before following you?

I am not sure if it is possible to see photos while you are blocked, but I don't think so. But there is a private setting which makes people have to request to start following you, and you can easily decline. If you go on your own feed (the last button on the right) and then click 'Edit my Profile' then scroll to the bottom there should be a switch that says 'photos are private'. If you click that, people have to request before following you. Your existing followers won't be affected. Hope that helped!
