Is a fake celebrity page illegal?

I know someone who is pretending to be a celeb on twitter (i know its pathetic lol) he has like 20,000 followers. Is what he is doing illegal??? Its not necessarily criminal impersonation right? since he is not gaining anything from it. Also what are the chances of him getting caught (i dont mean them finding out he is not the real celeb) I mean if its illegal what are his chances of getting in legal trouble?
well im not worried, if he gets in trouble thats his problem. Im just wondering if there is anything illegal about it

Only if it could be considered libelous or slanderous by the person. Otherwise, no, the internet is pretty unregulated. I don't think you have reason to worry.

I acctualy had a friend that did this on myspace. After a few months...they deleated her page. I'm not too sure if it is against the law or not. But if worse comes to worse the page will be deleted.
