Why does "Mutual Friends" appear when we're already friends on Facebook?


Like, I know when you're not friends, and you search in the "Search Bar", you'll find "[Name] Mutual friends 28" or something along those lines.... That usually only shows if you're not friends with the individual... but I am... that worries me...

I'm friends with people, and when I look them up in the search bar, that still shows for SOME of them...

Is it a sort of "blocking" thing? Maybe it takes a while to update?

You're not understanding. Once you're friends, you shouldn't see "mutual friends XX" whilst looking them up in the search bar... We're friends already, so I have no idea why it still says that next to their name, when I search for them...

do you understand what "mutual friends" means?

those are the number of people who you are friends with and that person is also friends with

if it's zero, that means that you do not have any friends in common with that person, which means you probably will not want to send them a friends request (if that's what you are doing) as you will most likely get reported for doing that
