Does Facebook ALWAYS show when someone has read your message?
Or are there privacy options where people can hide the fact they've already read your messages? If there isn't a check mark saying "read" then that means they haven't read it?

If you're on mobile yes, you'd have to check it to be able to see it. An iphone it might pop up if you have texting on so no. The browser, it'll pop up and if you don't click chat that pops up they won't be able to tell, clicking inbox you can read it and if you don't click the actual message, it'll be not read.

I've had an issue where on my mobile it doesn't show that they've read it, but when I switch to my laptop it shows that they have (so mobile tends to hide this). Otherwise it will always mark as read. More and more people are choosing not to read a message until they have time to reply, I'm finding.
