Smartphones are really useful and fun. iPhone was the first one, and for a while there, the only one. Which is to say, for a while, everyone who had a smartphone had an iPhone, and since everyone had it, it became cool.

That is a good question brother. Android phones are cheaper, have a ton of free apps, and usually are faster in almost every way but people like crapple devices for some reason. They would rather have one then money I guess.

The iPhone was not the first smart phone. 1st gen iPhones were released in 2007, there were several smart phones released before then. The first smart phone was the Simon in the late 90s, and companies such as HP and HTC released some of the first "smarter" phones in the early 2000s (2004 or so).

It's popular because you can't be a tool without it.

Because it's a good product that works really well for many. Besides, Apple deserves all the credit for basically reinventing the smartphone and setting the standard.

Depends where you are, I was in Europe for a month, never see iPhone, see a lot of android phone, especially from Samsung; in some other country, see more Blackberry.
