How do I block the online now notification on Facebook?

I have Facebook Chat completely turned off, but it still shows people when I'm online and how long I've been online. Which is extremely annoying. I have looked everywhere and can't find any settings for this feature. Anyone know how to turn it off?
The online now indicator is attached to Facebook Chat. A little bubble will roll in and roll out with my default picture on it with a small green dot attached to it. It will also tell you how long you've been online and weather your on a mobile phone or not in a list underneath it. It's all a part of Facebook Chat which I have completely turned off. My friend's can still see when I am on Facebook or not by looking at this notification. Even when I am simply checking a notification from my phone for a second and then turning the application off immediately afterwards.

where exactly are you seeing this online now indicator?

facebook doesnt have one

what's probably happening is that you are liking and commenting on things while you have the chat turned off, thinking that your friends wont be able to know you are on at the time
