Is threatening someone on Facebook gonna do anything?
I was thinking about threatening a teacher of mine on Facebook, but I bet it'll just get me into trouble. But then again, it's just Facebook. It's not like they'll see it. So is it gonna do anything?

You can only go to jail for several months.

I recommend against it.

Don't do it. Unless you have zero friends on Facebook, someone will see it, and that means that it could get reported. And threats can be considered a crime.

"It's just Facebook. It's not like they'll see it"
But your wrong. At least 85% of the population of the Western, internet-connected world has a Facebook account. That's a lot of people- your teacher or his or her friends are quite likely to be on Facebook too.

Statistics say that you're teacher is not exactly unlikely to see your post, nor any other school official. There's an extremely small likelihood that your teacher is more then a few degrees of separation away from you. Your friend's friends; your friend's parent's friend, &c.

Once it's on the internet, it will never be erased - it will be there forever. This is how computers work. Once you are noticed, you will not be able to deny.

Not to mention you can still be arrested and thrown in prison for a while.

That's illegal even on the internet. The police could come and arrest you if you do it. They can get your IP address easily and use it to find your home address.

just last night i was reading a question where someone else put up a facebook page about a teacher. the school found out who made it, who liked it and was commenting on it, they got all their parents involved and the police. (if i can find the question i'll post a link)

so what your planning on doing is going to backfire on you big time.

Edit_

my mistake, it was a twitter account, but the same applies.

once you put something online, it's there, and you cant delete it, even if you delete the post, message or what ever you done, the page/message is still on the servers backed up.
