If I block someone on Facebook, would they know I blocked them?

So there was some guy in India that found me through a Facebook group, and added me as a friend. He's a real nice guy and isn't some spammer, he is a real person I would assume is real. He messaged me a few nights ago just asking about what life's like in America and told me some stuff about India. The problem is that now he messages me every time I'm on Facebook, asks me to watch all these YouTube videos, wants me to help him with English, wants me to call him, and whenever I say I got to go he starts apologizing because he thinks he's offending me and that's why I got to go.

I hate to do this, but the only way to get this guy to leave me alone is to block him, because if I tell him to calm down he starts apologizing and stuff. Anyway, if I do block him, on his side, would his Facebook say I blocked him, or would it just look like my Facebook got deleted?

well you could turn your chat off when you are on so he doesn't know your on and no he won't know but you won't be able to see his messages and he wont be able to see yours

Not Unless They Try to Access your Profile And Notice They are Unable too

If you block a person, the only way that person will notice you blocked them is that your name in public comments (for example on mutual friends' photos) will be grayed out so he can't acces your profile page or your name will be replaced with "Facebook User". They won't get a notification that you've blocked them, but instead they can notice easily. The good part is though they will never be able to contact you again.

He won't know if you blocked him. If he tries to look you up, he won't find you.

He also won't find your name on a mutual friend's friend list. If you comment on a mutual friend's post, your comment or your name will not show up at all.
