How to get genuine instagram followers?

I got instagram about a month ago and I have only about 40 followers which makes it a little boring. My profile is on public, I used hashtags and try to make my photos as interesting and appealing as possible for iphone pictures. What am I doing wrong? Are my photos not actually that good? Be honest

Hey.. Uhm people tell me that I'm instafamous.. So.. You could like follow a hell of a lot of people, and then make sure that they follow you back.. Then unfollow the shit out of them.. Make posts that people haven't saw like 18827483010 times, for example: flowers.. Everyone knows what flowers look like, millions of people post flowers, I can just look out of the window and see them right now.. But if you did like chibis or something that not many people can do or not many other people have saw before, then maybe they will follow you.. Also, sometimes making your account private helps.. It sounds stupid.. But I did.. And they follow you more.. I guess it's because by following you they can actually see your pictures.. Whereas if they don't follow you.. They can't.. But if your account is open.. Anyone can see your pictures.. I'm 13 and I was stalking you 10 minutes ago.. Hope I helped!
