How to get Facebook birthdays to stop showing on my phone as calendar alerts?

I have an HTC Windows Phone 8x and I have my Facebook linked with it. Every time someone has a birthday, it shows a calendar alert on my phone that morning. So if there's 5 birthdays that day, I get 5 different alerts in which I have to dismiss (as opposed to snooze).

While other Facebook events I do want to see, how do I get rid of peoples' birthdays from showing up on my phone?

Go to settings, accounts & sync and press on Facebook and then remove account. This deleted all the contacts from Facebook in the phone bit. Then when I logged back into my Facebook I selected don't sync and the contacts didn't come back. Hope this works
