How can I delete a Facebook account opened using my email address?

I've read other questions like this. The problem is it asks me for my date of birth, repeatedly, which is obviously different from this individual's. So, I was able to change the password but was still unable to access the account in order to deactivate it. This has been going on for close to two years and I want it to stop. I tried reporting it more than once and I'm still getting messages about friends adding me, commenting, etc.

What on earth can I do?

if you cant log into it, there is nothing you can do

but now that you have changed the password, the other person wont be able to access it either

set up an inbox rule in your email account that automatically deletes any emails from facebook
