Short answer: it'll be similar to what we have today only with a broader market, advanced media sharing devices (phones) which also coincides with the mobile market taking a stronger base over the desktop computer.

the semantic web. this technology is quietly being developed and will eventually be integrated into future electronics. the semantic web is basically artificial intelligence. social media platforms could be seen as giant databases that could help map the human experience. a.i. would be the natural next step of decoding allowing the internet to finally understand the result it provides when we search.

i believe social media will remain but expect it to offer a number of new features and applications.
