I deleted my account and made a fake profile for that very reason

find "public search" in your settings, click on the Gear Icon at the end of the blue bar at the top of your Timeline, click "privacy settings" & follow instructions (photo below)....there is absolutely no way to "hide" from Facebook Search anymore, so always remember to never have your privacy settings set to "public".

Privacy and account settings. There is a setting to block specific facebook users, and there is a setting to remove your profile from search engines and facebook search.
