Take the photo with a camera. If you want to take a selfie, take a pic of yourself with your mobile phone and upload it. If you don't want a selfie, get one of your friends to take it for you, don't try to have a funny pose etc, it usually turns out looking weird. Try just smiling maybe? Don't have a dumb grin on your face though, just relax and take the photo, you'll be fine. You could also try not making your profile pic of yourself, use a pic of something you like and identify to.
