Someone is using my email for instagram?

when I went to sign up for instagram it said my email was already in use. if someone "stole" my email wouldn't they have to log in to confirm the new account? What do I do?

Their just using it cause their to lazy to enter their own. I did the same.

First, i would change the password on your email to something complicated. This person obviously got into your account. For example (this isn't a password i have) but i'm a fan of Demi Lovato so a possible good password would be d2e3m4i5l6o7v8a9t1o. Something like that will be complicated and people will take longer to guess it. Also what email provider are you using? Yahoo i believe, you can sync your phone with your email account so then you get the emails there so you know when someone is using it. Next, just to mess with them, i would request a new password. change their password. and possibly delete their instagram. Serves them right for using your email!

You should probably try contacting Instagram or if you're too lazy to do so, just use a different email.
