What is social media marketing? What do you do and how much money could you make?

My friend just offered me a job on social media marketing, I don't know too much about it but I could definitely use a second job to get more money. I was told that I could have a 8-9 (1 hour) job which is very puzzling so someone fill me in on it.

I'm afraid there are no salary standards for such work, whatever that work is. I have to assume that's a job where you may participate on sites, joining conversations and mixing some advertising messages. A lot of this work is taken care of by 3rd world outsource worker for a few bucks an hour.

There are also "micro task site"s that pay small change for a few minutes work, the original "Mechanical Turk" was created by Amazon to 'automate' tasks a computer couldn't do, like pick the better of 2 photos, they named mturk.com after the 18th century chess playing machine that had a man hidden inside. Many of the tasks are boosting the popularity of sites by visiting or voting them up, there are also more shady actions they may ask you to take, including signing up for product trials for which they get a commission, your choice. Having Facebook, Google+ and social bookmarking site helps your qualification. Shorttask.com and microworkers.com are similar sites.
