The Democrats have a whole boiler room operation doing the same thing. In fact they were doing that BEFORE the Reps were and that is where the Reps got the idea.

Because their policies simply would not be defended by members of the public.

Almost nobody, not even Republicans, wants to:
- give tax cuts to the wealthy
- end the EPA
- reduce regulation on banks
- replace Medicaid with vouchers

They have to PAY people to support these core Republican political goals.
