Facebook Video Chat is making a weird grinding noise?

The sound it makes literally sounds like someone stuck a pencil in a fan recorded it and played it back on a loop during chat just to piss people off and its working. I have no idea what it is, at first to rule out the mics or speakers we both plugged in head sets. But the sound continued. WTF is goin on?

If you are sure it is not the microphone or the speakers it is probably a bad connection.try Skype or FaceTime to see if the sound continues across multiple sites and applications. If it does it's something on your end, probably hardware. If it doesn't, it's most likely on their end and it's probably related to their software. Just to be sure, you should quit all applications, make sure that all of your software is up to date, shut down your computer, unplug everything, wait two minutes, return everything, then turn on your computer.
