Is it illegal to edit someones Facebook picture?

Is it illegal to edit someones picture (of their face) and message it through Facebook messenger? Do you know where I can find a copy of the law regarding this? The picture was not used for personal/financial gain. The picture was taken to be offensive although this was not the intention. It was not posted, thus not vulnerable to likes, comments and sharing.

It's a very tricky area. If you accessed the account without the owners knowledge/permission that's a breach of facebooks privacy rules, country laws vary though. It's a very grey area. Sorry I'm not able to give precise information

Yes it is under the Copyright Infringement Laws depending on who owns the copyright to it.

It's also illegal to hack someones FB account.

How severe the penalties are for it depends in what country/state you live in.

A bloke not so long back in the US was facing 20 years inside for hacking
into his ex missuses FB account and harassing her!

If you Just Edited and Didint Post it than your Fine If you Post the Photo That you Edit than you have to Show it to the Person Who Owns the Photo and Ask For There Permission
