Do you think Facebook and other social media has become so integrated in how we get to know new people?

Morning All,

I gave up using Facebook around 4 months ago as I was finding it too full of junk (both from "friends" and pages)

It's made me wonder though whether its changed the way we socialise. I went out last week for a friends birthday and met loads of new people I got on with really well, however only kept in contact with one as we rather awkwardly exchanged numbers.

Both of us agreed in similar situations you'd normally add them on Facebook and chat there first which is why it felt weird to exchange numbers without knowing them.

Do you think it's true in that its changed the way we socialise and can you get by without it but still make new friends ?
