Is social media a good thing, or is it just a way for cyber-bullying to occur? How to prevent rude comments?

Is social media a good thing, or is it just a way for cyber-bullying to occur? How to prevent rude comments?
Social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Yahoo Answers are great ways to gain information about the world, AND connect with some friends, but millions of cyber bully comments fill people's screens everyday. Of course this will always be a problem with the Internet, but social media is like a door that's wide open, allowing all the bully comments to flow in. With cyber bullying becoming a bigger issue every week, some people might feel differently about the 'innocent' social media websites. What are your thoughts and feelings, and how can you prevent or ignore rude comments that might appear on your monitor each day, just because you stated your opinion? Interested to hear your thoughts! Have a great day and Blessings!

This question doesn't fit what should be on yahoo answers. But put it this way, when you get in a car crash, you dont blame the road commission for building roads.

There's going to be bullying everywhere. It's just how life is. If there was no social media, people would still bully in person. You can't stop it from happening. If you're gonna be on the Internet you're going to have to get used to it and not let it affect you. You can't prevent mean comments, but you can prevent it from affecting you. Cyber bullies are idiots and cowards hiding behind a computer screen. If you met them in person, they wouldn't have the guts to say half the stuff they say online.
