how do I get to on line status from off line?

I recently turned on my computer and found I was off line and unable to get on the internet. How do I get to an online status?

Depending on your computer there may be several reasons why you're not "online". Were you connected before, but turned on your computer now to find you're not connected? Desktop or Laptop?
My wife has a laptop, and there is a little switch on the front side (the edge of the computer facing you) labeled Wi-Fi. If this button is in the off position, the laptop won't connect. Click it on, and the internet comes on.

Either you connect directly to your internet provider and make sure it's on (the modem or mobile data) or you connect to a life wifi.
