I can't get a character reference. Any idea's?
Hi, I have recently found employment with virgin media but before I can actually start I was told by my boss that I need a character reference. any clue who i can use for this Character Reference Criteria
 Person must have been known to you for at least 3 years  Person must be employed in or retired from a professional occupation (please see list below)  Person must not be a family member or live at the same address Accountant Articled Clerk of a Limited Company Assurance Agent of Recognised Company Bank/Building Society Official Barrister Broker Chairman/Director of Limited Company Chemist Chiropodist Christian Science Practitioner Commissioner of Oaths Councillor: Local or County Civil Servant (permanent) Dentist Engineer (with professional Qualifications) Fire Service Official Funeral Director Insurance agent (full time) of a recognised Company Journalist Justice of the Peace Legal Secretary (members and fellows of the Institute of legal secretaries) Local Government Officer Manager/Personnel Officer (of Limited Company) Member of Parliament Merchant Navy Officer Minister of a recognised religion Nurse (SRN and SEN) Officer of the armed services (Active or Retired) Optician Person with Honours (e.g. OBE MBE etc) Person with a recognised post graduate qualification e.g. PhD, MA, Masters Photographer (Professional) Police Officer Post Office Official President/Secretary of a recognised organisation Salvation Army Officer Social Worker Solicitor Surveyor Teacher, Lecturer Trade Union Officer Travel Agency (Qualified) Valuers and auctioneers (fellow and associate members of the incorporated society) Warrant officers and Chief Petty Officers now i dont know any one who knows me that well to do it i have tried school tried college but i was there 2 years ago and wont work my friends mum is a teaching assistant and they told me she is not a teacher so no so they are very strict with who you have and i cant get anyone to do it is there any way round this problem and will this stop me from getting the job? the doctor wont do it and dentist i have moved to was a year ago. I don't have anyone who fits the criteria that know me that well i have people that are very close but they wont have them i have friends in the army but the right rank and no one that fits im only 18 and most of my friends are my age and mum/dads don't fit the criteria teacher is up there but they wont allow teaching assistant Ads |

They are just looking for someone that they can perceive as being credible to vouch that you are a good person. Do you have anyone that has known you for less than 3 years but fits the criteria? Maybe your personal doctor? Dentist? I would try anyone that you know will give you a good reference. I'm sure you will be able to come up with someone that knows who you are that can talk you up.

If you're a churchgoer, you can ask your priest.
Bank Official, Optician and Chemist are on there. Would they know you well? No-one in the Army or Police? Ask around for someone who has an MA. There's probably someone you know that has one. |

get a relative to be reference just dont tell new boss that it's your aunt uncle or cousin !
i'm sure they know you well enough if they live far away say they used to live in your area before ! been there done that many times ! they only want to validate that your a good law abiding citizen thats all ! also your friends can fudge thier age 3 years employer aint doing back ground check on them ! |
