Is Twitter worth getting?

I am not sure whether to get twitter or not! Most of my friends have it and it seems to be very popular. I already have facebook but twitter seems much more exciting.
I also don't understand it, please can someone explain the whole hashtag stuff

It really depends on if you're online enough to constantly tweet.
I don't like Twitter. The #hashtag just associates your tweet with a group.

Yeah it's worth it, you can keep up to date with your friends and comment on relevant topics. The hashtag is usually what your tweet was about and people that search for that hash tag your tweet comes up. Also you follow people and it all comes up on your home feed so you can read what they've been tweeting about. Pretty much all the celebrities have twitter too.
